Market Capitalisation
Market capitalization, also referred to as m-cap or market cap, refers to the total monetary market value of a company's outstanding shares of stock. It determines a company's size, as opposed to using sales or total asset figures. In this context, market capitalisation is considered for all companies listed on the nation's stock exchanges.
It is calculated by multiplying the total number of a company's outstanding shares by the current market price of one share. eg: ABC Ltd with 10 million shares selling for $100 each would have a market cap of $1 billion.
