ACCESS TO SANITATION
- As of 2020, only 71.3% of the Indian population had access to basic sanitation services.
- In comparison to its benchmarked G20 peers, access to basic sanitation in India is the lowest. It is also lower than the world average of 78%.
- As of Dec'20, 32.6% of rural households in India had access to tap water within their homes, in comparison to 17.1% in Aug'19.
- Rural households in West Bengal and Assam had the least access to tap water within their homes at 4.5% and 5.7% respectively.
