The Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh, also known as the Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha, is a unicameral law making body and consists of 90 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Raipur, the capital of the state.
The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor on the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh were held in Nov 2018.

The 5th Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh formed post the elections held in Nov 2018 consists of 90 MLAs. INC (Indian National Congress) won by a landslide majority in the 2018 Assembly elections, securing 68 of the 90 seats, taking them comfortably past the majority mark of 46 seats to form the government. There were subsequent changes in the Lok Sabha with some MLAs switching party loyalties and bye-elections held due to the death of some MLAs.
- INC has the largest majority with 71 MLAs thereby giving it control over 70% of the total Assembly seats
- BJP has the second-largest majority with 14 MLAs and sits in the Opposition
- All other parties together have 5 MLAs

- The MLAs in the current Assembly are more qualified than those in the previous Assembly. They are also amongst the most qualified MLAs across all states in India.
- 34% MLAs in the current Assembly have little to no education (grade 12 or below), in comparison to 40% in the previous Assembly.
- 14% MLAs in the current Assembly are Graduates, just as in the previous Assembly.
- 51% MLAs in the current Assembly are highly qualified (professionals and above) in comparison to 43% in the previous Assembly.
- Only 17% MLAs in the current Assembly are women
- The percentage of women in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has increased from 12% in 2010 to 17% in 2018. Though yet low, it is amongst the highest across all states in India.
