Tripura Assembly
The Legislative Assembly of Tripura, also known as the Tripura Vidhan Sabha, is a unicameral law making body and consists of 60 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Gurkhabasti.
The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years. However, it may be dissolved earlier than that by the Governor on the request of the Chief Minister. The last legislative Assembly elections in Tripura were held in Feb 2018.

The 12th Legislative Assembly of Tripura formed post the elections held in Feb 2018 consists of 60 MLAs. BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) secured a landslide victory in the 2018 Assembly elections winning 36 seats cruising comfortably past the majority threshold of 31 seats to form the government. Subsequently there were additional changes in the composition of the assembly based on the switching of party alliances by MLAs and bye-elections held in specific constituencies.
- BJP along with its NDA partner IPFT (Indinegous People's Front of Tripura) has a total of 44 MLAs in the Tripura Assembly giving it a control over 73% of the total seats in the Assembly
- CPM has 16 MLAs and sits in the Opposition

- 26% MLAs in the current Assembly are highly qualified (professionals and above), in comparison to 17% in the previous Assembly.
- Only 7% MLAs in the current Assembly are women
- The percentage of women in the Tripura Legislative Assembly has remained below 10% since 2008
